A community tradition, Dakota Choral Union’s annual performance of new and familiar choral pieces accompanied by members of the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra brings a festive setting to your holiday season.

Women of Note
Dakota Choral Union’s first concert of the 2019-2020 season, “Women of Note”, is a celebration of women composers from around the world. For centuries, women were discouraged and even barred from writing and composing music. While a few persisted, it wasn’t until the last few decades that talented women started to freely pursue music composition. DCU wishes to celebrate these artists in a field that for centuries was dominated by men. This performance includes songs composed and arranged by Esther Scliar (Brazil), Agathe Grøndahl (Norway), Sarah Quartel (Canada), Melissa Dunphy (Australia), Alice Walker, Gwyneth Walker and Ysaye M. Barnwell (USA).
